Eco Rickshaw, 1.5 Hours, 1.5 hours, rated 4.8 across 370 traveller reviews.
This is a 1.5 hour ride through Bari's old town in an eco-friendly rickshaw-bike with a guide. VELO SERVICE runs it from Strada Vallisa 81, and each vehicle carries up to two adults and one child, or three adults. The lanes of the old centre are narrow, and the ride passes through streets where old ladies still make home-made pasta and children play outdoors.
The route takes in the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, the Cathedral of Saint Sabinus and the outside of the Swabian Castle, plus corners most visitors would not find alone. All landmarks are viewed from the exterior, and entrance fees are not included. Along the way there is a tasting of a local product.
Guides work in Spanish, English, French, German and Italian, and the tour sometimes runs bilingually depending on who is in the group. One reviewer said their guide helped find a restaurant and reserved a table for the evening after the ride.
A few practical things shape how this tour goes, from vehicle capacity to weather dependence.
Common issues. The tour may change if a minimum number of participants is not reached, so last minute adjustments are possible, and bad weather can also affect the schedule. Some travellers have mentioned that clearer start-time coordination would help, so it is worth confirming timing before you book. Entrance fees to any monuments are not included, and everything on the route is viewed from outside anyway.
At Strada Vallisa 81, 70122 Bari. There is no hotel pickup or transfer included, so travellers make their own way to the meeting point and the ride ends back at the Velo Service base.
It lasts 1.5 hours. The whole time is spent moving through the old town by rickshaw with a guide.
No. Entrance fees are listed as not included, and in practice all the attractions on the route, including the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, the Cathedral of Saint Sabinus and the Swabian Castle, are viewed from the outside only.
A local product tasting is part of the experience. One reviewer also mentioned receiving a scoop of ice cream during the ride.
Yes. Each rickshaw can carry two adults and one child, or three adults.
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund. Also note the operator may alter the activity if the minimum number of participants is not reached or weather conditions are poor.
